CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Soldiers of the Army's 27th Infantry Battalion (27IB) have completed their election security mission and returned to their home station following their role in the Bangsamoro Parliamentary elections held last month.
Maj. Gen. Alvin Luzon, commander of the 10th Infantry Division, presided over a welcome ceremony for the returning troops alongside Brig. Gen. Christopher Diaz of the 1003rd Infantry Brigade. The event honored the officers and enlisted personnel who deployed to support the electoral exercise in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The 27IB's deployment marked a significant contribution to ensuring the security and credibility of the inaugural parliamentary elections, a key milestone in the implementation of the Bangsamoro peace agreement. The successful completion of their assignment underscores the military's continued support for the region's political transition and development initiatives.
The return of the troops concludes an important chapter in the broader peacekeeping and stabilization efforts in Mindanao, with military leadership acknowledging their contributions to the democratic process in the autonomous region.
