Arsenal skipper Odegaard calls for focus after shock League Cup exit

Arsenal's campaign in the League Cup came to an abrupt end after a dramatic 5-3 penalty shootout loss to Fleetwood Town, a jarring result for the reigning Premier League champions. The Cup exit marked an unexpected blemish on what has been a strong start to the season for Mikel Arteta's side.

Following the defeat, Odegaard emphasised the need for the squad to process the disappointment quickly and redirect their energy towards upcoming fixtures. The Arsenal captain acknowledged the result as a setback but stressed that such outcomes are part of professional football and can serve as a learning opportunity.

The loss to the lower-division opponent highlights the unpredictability of cup competitions, where Premier League sides frequently face challenges from lesser-ranked teams. Arsenal will now focus on maintaining their domestic league form and other competition objectives.

Odegaard's message to teammates centred on resilience and the importance of maintaining standards across all competitions. The squad faces a busy fixture schedule ahead, with Premier League and European commitments requiring full concentration in the coming weeks.
