Artist Mark Cline's quirky foam recreation of Stonehenge has completed its journey to a new home in Virginia. Originally constructed in 2004, Foamhenge was designed as a visitor attraction and stood at Natural Bridge for over a decade, becoming a roadside curiosity that drew tourists curious about its whimsical take on the ancient British monument.
The structure's relocation became necessary in 2016 when land development plans at its original venue required it to move. After being carefully transported, Foamhenge found its new permanent home at Cox Farms in the region.
The relocated monument made its public debut at Cox Farms during the Fall Festival in 2017, where it continues to attract visitors. The site offers designated viewing hours for guests wishing to see Cline's foam interpretation of the famous Wiltshire landmark, allowing the artist's creation to reach a fresh audience while maintaining its character as a lighthearted tourist attraction.
Foamhenge stands as an example of roadside Americana creativity, offering visitors a chance to experience a playful, accessible version of one of the world's most recognisable prehistoric sites.
