Ashoka Buildcon Limited has been awarded a contract valued at Rs 290.23 crore for capacity augmentation work on North Eastern Railway's traction infrastructure. The company will undertake the project on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, assuming full responsibility for design through to operational commissioning.

The scope of work encompasses the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of traction substations that form the backbone of railway electrification systems. These substations are critical infrastructure components that regulate and distribute electrical power to train operations across the northeastern rail corridors.

The contract represents a significant infrastructure investment in India's eastern region, where railway electrification remains a priority for the Ministry of Railways. Ashoka Buildcon's involvement underscores the company's capability in executing large-scale railway infrastructure projects requiring technical expertise and stringent quality standards.

The project is expected to improve operational efficiency and support capacity expansion on North Eastern Railway routes. Completion of traction infrastructure upgrades typically enhances train frequency and reduces operational constraints on electrified sections of the network.
