Assam Rifles seizes firearms from two Bihar men in Agartala

The Assam Rifles apprehended two individuals from Bihar in Agartala while they were in possession of illicit firearms, officials said on Wednesday. The arrests mark another significant seizure in efforts to curb illegal weapons trafficking in the northeastern state.

According to preliminary investigations, the two men had arrived in Agartala from Khowai in West Tripura with the stated purpose of handing over the firearms to an unknown contact. The nature and number of weapons recovered during the operation were not immediately disclosed by authorities.

The Assam Rifles, which maintains a substantial presence across the Northeast, has intensified operations against arms smuggling networks operating in the region. The seizure underscores ongoing concerns about illegal weapons movement through interstate channels into Tripura.
