Ather Energy has committed its largest investment to date towards developing a new vehicle platform and product, with expenditure between ₹400-500 crore or potentially higher, according to the company's co-founder and CEO Tarun Mehta. The investment has culminated in the launch of Monarc, the company's entry into the mass-market electric two-wheeler segment, with pricing starting at ₹99,999 ex-showroom Bengaluru.
The Monarc will be available in three variants—S100, S125 and S160—featuring a range of new technologies and capabilities. The company has confirmed that customer deliveries will commence from September. The new EL platform underpinning the Monarc incorporates several advanced features including onboard charging capability, an Anti-lock Braking System (AeBS), and extended service intervals of 10,000 kilometres.
Beyond the Monarc launch, Ather Energy has outlined its broader product roadmap, which includes a 200-kilometre range variant of the Ather S model and a feature-rich Z version offering 125 kilometres of range on the Indian Driving Cycle standard. These additions represent the company's strategy to expand its portfolio across different market segments and consumer preferences.
