Ather Energy eyes global expansion while strengthening India presence
Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy plans to aggressively pursue international markets, though the company will maintain focus on meeting domestic demand-supply requirements. The expansion strategy comes as India's EV sector continues rapid growth.

Ather Energy is charting an ambitious course for overseas expansion even as it prioritises meeting strong domestic demand in the Indian market, according to the company's Chief Business Officer Ravneet S Phokela.
The electric two-wheeler maker's international push reflects growing confidence in the global EV market and recognition of India's matured electric mobility ecosystem. However, Phokela stressed that the company remains committed to addressing current supply constraints in its home market before scaling up global operations.
"While we are aggressive about overseas markets, the domestic market continues to be our priority given the current demand-supply dynamics," Phokela said, indicating a measured approach to global expansion.
The move underscores the competitive intensity in India's electric two-wheeler segment, where rising consumer interest and government incentives have created significant growth opportunities. Ather Energy's dual strategy reflects the company's effort to capitalise on both the expanding domestic market and emerging opportunities in Asia and beyond.
The Chennai-based firm joins other Indian EV manufacturers in pursuing international markets, signalling a broader trend of Indian companies seeking to establish presence beyond domestic shores in the fast-growing global electric mobility sector.
