Arcy James Gonzales, manager of the Asia United Bank branch in Davao's Toril district, appeared before the impeachment court on Day 35 of the trial to present testimony for the prosecution.
Gonzales was expected to identify and authenticate bank accounts and transaction records maintained by Vice President Duterte and her husband, Manases "Mans" Carpio, at the Davao branch. The testimony is part of a broader prosecution strategy to establish a financial record related to allegations against the vice president.
The impeachment trial, which has drawn significant attention across the Philippines, continues to build its case through witness testimony and documentary evidence. Banking records are frequently presented in such proceedings to substantiate claims regarding the flow of funds and financial relationships.
Duterte has faced mounting pressure since the impeachment complaint was filed, with the vice president previously denying allegations of wrongdoing. The trial represents a landmark moment in Philippine politics, as impeachment proceedings against sitting vice presidents remain relatively uncommon.
