Regional authorities have called for a significant scaling up of inspection activities to curb child labour across the area. The Additional District Commissioner (ADC) has emphasized the need for more rigorous monitoring of workplaces, farms, and informal sector establishments where children are frequently found working illegally.
Current inspection frameworks have proven inadequate in detecting and preventing child labour exploitation, officials stated. The push for intensified checks comes as enforcement agencies continue to grapple with widespread violations of child labour laws across various economic sectors, from agriculture to small-scale manufacturing and domestic work.
Stakeholders point to the need for better coordination between district authorities, labour departments, and local law enforcement to improve detection rates. Enhanced inspections are expected to focus on high-risk areas and industries historically associated with child labour practices.
The initiative also seeks to strengthen awareness campaigns in communities where child labour remains prevalent due to poverty and limited educational access. Officials have stressed that successful implementation will require adequate resources, trained personnel, and sustained commitment from government agencies at multiple levels.
