CALAPAN CITY — Authorities in Occidental Mindoro have seized 320 kilograms of cooked and uncooked processed meat products that were shipped from the capital region without required permits and documentation. Municipal veterinarian Dr. Nathaniel Descanzo confirmed the action taken on August 29 in the town of Mamburao following information provided by a local resident.
The shipment violated several regulatory requirements, including documentary compliance and proper transport procedures mandated by national livestock and food safety regulations. Officials did not immediately specify which regulations were contravened or the intended destination of the meat products.
Dr. Descanzo's office conducted an inspection of the seized items and determined they failed to meet the standards necessary for legal distribution. The incident underscores ongoing efforts by local authorities to enforce food safety standards and prevent the circulation of undocumented food products in the region.
