Enforcement teams conducted a raid at a dal mill located in the Kapnoor Industrial Area in Kalaburagi, uncovering 1,250 bags of urea stored on the premises. The chemical, which is commonly used as a fertilizer, was being handled and repackaged without the requisite licenses or regulatory approval.
The seizure highlights ongoing concerns about the misuse of industrial chemicals in food processing units across the region. Urea is a nitrogen-based compound that has occasionally been found in adulterated food products, raising public health concerns.
Authorities have initiated proceedings against the mill operators for operating without proper authorization and for handling restricted materials in violation of food safety and chemical regulations. The seized urea has been secured as evidence pending further investigation.
