BINTULU — A representative from Jepak has issued a public warning against a housing deposit scam targeting the Kampung Jelutong low-cost housing scheme in the area. The scheme involves unauthorized agents collecting RM2,500 deposits from prospective buyers under the guise of securing properties in the development.
The fraudulent offers are being made outside official channels, with scammers promising to facilitate house purchases without proper authorization from the development authority. Residents have been advised to verify all property transactions through legitimate channels and official representatives only.
The warning comes as part of efforts to protect vulnerable buyers from losing substantial sums to fraudulent schemes. Jepak officials have urged the public to exercise caution when approached by unofficial sellers and to conduct thorough verification before making any financial commitments.
