The Department of Meteorology has cautioned the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against the threat of severe lightning strikes that are anticipated to occur in the coming period.
Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak weather conditions and to seek shelter in safe locations when lightning activity is detected. The advisory particularly urges people working in exposed environments, including agricultural workers and construction personnel, to exercise heightened awareness.
Additionally, authorities recommend that residents keep away from tall structures, open spaces, and bodies of water during thunderstorms. The public has been asked to monitor official weather updates regularly for the latest forecasts and guidance.
The meteorological department stressed the importance of preparedness, noting that lightning-related incidents can result in serious injury or fatality. Communities are encouraged to ensure their homes and workplaces have appropriate safety measures in place, including proper grounding systems for electrical installations.
