Auto-component sector faces talent and material squeeze from faster-growing rivals

Data centres and renewable energy industries, buoyed by strong growth prospects and investment, are drawing from the same pool of skilled workers and sourcing the same raw materials that auto-component makers rely on. This competition is creating supply-chain pressures and wage inflation within the automotive supply ecosystem, even as vehicle demand remains robust across the country.

The challenge comes at a time when the auto-component sector is positioned as a critical pillar of India's manufacturing ambitions. While domestic and export vehicle demand continues to support growth, the inability to secure adequate talent and materials at competitive costs could constrain capacity expansion and profitability for component makers.

Industry analysts note that the sector must enhance its appeal to attract and retain skilled workers, while also exploring alternative sourcing strategies to mitigate raw material constraints. The situation underscores the broader competition for resources across India's growth-oriented industrial landscape.
