Preparations are underway in Ayodhya for the tenth edition of Deepotsav, the city's signature Diwali festival that draws devotees and tourists from across India and beyond. The celebration will see an unprecedented display of lights as three million earthen lamps are set to illuminate 56 ghats lining the sacred Saryu River, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that reflects the city's spiritual significance.
City authorities have already procured over 3.3 million oil lamps to ensure the festival proceeds without interruption. The logistics for arranging, distributing, and lighting such a vast number of diyas across multiple locations along the river's edge present a significant organizational challenge that local administration is actively addressing.
The ceremonial groundbreaking for the festival arrangements is scheduled for Friday at ghat number 10, where Vedic mantras will be chanted during the bhumi poojan ritual. This traditional blessing ceremony marks the formal commencement of the festival preparations and sets the spiritual tone for the festivities to come.
The Deepotsav celebration has evolved into one of Ayodhya's most significant annual events since its inception, attracting large crowds eager to participate in the lighting of lamps. The festival not only carries deep religious and cultural significance for Hindus but has also become an important economic and tourism driver for the region.
