Bac Ninh authorities are intensifying efforts to move a 118,000-tonne fruit crop through domestic and international markets, with geographic indication codes emerging as a key tool for product traceability and market differentiation. As of mid-October, the province had secured 91 such codes covering 1,764.9 hectares of farmland, comprising 80 designations for export-grade produce and 11 for domestic consumption. The codes serve as certifications that link products to specific growing regions, enhancing their appeal to quality-conscious buyers and opening doors to premium markets. Pomelos have become a particular focus of the provincial push, with authorities coordinating efforts to secure new market entries and expand existing export channels. The province has also streamlined customs clearance procedures to facilitate faster shipment of certified produce, reducing bottlenecks in the export pipeline. Beyond these immediate measures, Bac Ninh is piloting artificial intelligence applications to automate export documentation, a move officials say has shown promising initial results and could significantly accelerate processing times once fully implemented. The multi-pronged approach reflects the province's commitment to capturing value from its agricultural output while addressing logistical and regulatory hurdles that have historically constrained market access.
