Bach Mai Hospital achieves Vietnam's first advanced stroke centre certification

Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi has become the first healthcare facility in Vietnam to earn the "Advanced Stroke Centre" certification from the World Stroke Organisation (WSO), elevating the country's standards in acute stroke management and treatment.

The WSO Advanced Stroke Centre accreditation is awarded to medical institutions that meet rigorous international criteria for stroke prevention, diagnosis, and patient care. The certification reflects Bach Mai Hospital's investment in specialised equipment, trained personnel, and comprehensive treatment protocols designed to improve outcomes for stroke patients.

The achievement comes as Vietnam faces growing pressure to address non-communicable diseases, with stroke representing a leading cause of morbidity and mortality across the region. The hospital's certification is expected to set a benchmark for other Vietnamese medical facilities seeking to enhance their stroke care capabilities.

Bach Mai Hospital, one of Vietnam's premier healthcare institutions, operates multiple campuses, including a facility in Ninh Binh province. The hospital has been identified as a key facility in efforts to establish regional healthcare excellence and expand quality medical services beyond the capital.
