BACOLOD CITY — The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) issued a public health advisory Thursday following a notable increase in pediatric respiratory illness consultations at its Emergency Department.

Data compiled from October 1-14 showed the 65-bed facility's Emergency Department treated 140 children presenting with respiratory complaints. The surge has prompted hospital officials to alert the public and healthcare community to monitor the emerging health concern.

The advisory comes as respiratory illnesses become increasingly common during seasonal transitions in the region. Health officials did not specify the causative agents responsible for the cases, though pediatric respiratory infections typically include viral pathogens such as rhinovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, and influenza.

The hospital's move to issue a public health advisory reflects growing concern about the volume of cases and potential strain on emergency services. Parents and guardians have been urged to seek medical attention for children experiencing respiratory symptoms and to practice preventive measures including proper hygiene and vaccination compliance.
