Bacolod school goes online after threatening note discovered on campus

Bacolod City College (BCC) transitioned to online instruction on Thursday as a precautionary security measure after school staff discovered a threatening note on the campus premises, Mayor Greg Gasataya announced Wednesday evening.

The message was located inside a school comfort room at approximately 2:05 p.m., according to reports from college officials. The note, written on a brown piece of paper, contained language threatening violence against individuals at the institution.

School administrators reported the incident to authorities immediately upon discovery. In response to the threat, college leadership decided to suspend in-person classes and implement distance learning to ensure student and staff safety pending investigation of the matter.

The Bacolod City government pledged to coordinate with law enforcement agencies to investigate the source of the threatening message. Authorities have not yet identified a suspect or determined the specific circumstances surrounding the note's placement on school grounds.
