Baguio City caps Burnham Lake boat fares at P250 per 30 minutes
Baguio City authorities have mandated that boat operators at Burnham Lake maintain a standardized rental rate of P250 for 30-minute rides, ending a spike in charges following the lake's reopening.

BAGUIO CITY — The city government has imposed a fixed boat rental rate at Burnham Lake to prevent further price increases by concessionaires. Effective September 2, all boat operators must charge P250 for a 30-minute ride, regardless of vessel size, according to directives from the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO).
The measure came after boat concessionaires raised their rates following the lake's recent reopening. The city government convened a meeting with CEPMO leadership to address the uncontrolled pricing, which had prompted complaints from residents and tourists who frequent the popular recreational destination.
By enforcing the uniform rate, Baguio City aims to ensure fair access to Burnham Lake's boating facilities for all visitors. The P250 rate applies across all boat categories operating within the lake, eliminating previous disparities in pricing structure.
Burnham Lake, nestled in the heart of Baguio City, remains a major attraction for both local and visiting tourists. The standardized fare is expected to maintain the lake's appeal as an affordable recreational option while protecting the interests of both operators and the public.
