Baguio City emerges as nucleus of expanding regional metropolis

Baguio City has quietly become the centerpiece of an expanding metropolitan region over the past two years, with a fledgling development authority overseeing growth across surrounding communities. The Metropolitan Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay Development Authority, known by the acronym BLISTT, operates behind the scenes to coordinate development across the six-municipality area in Benguet province.

The authority's creation mirrors the institutional framework of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, which has long managed coordinated development across the Philippine capital region.
