BAGUIO CITY — City authorities are coordinating with the Department of Public Works and Highways to advance a P180-million underdrainage project designed to mitigate recurring flood episodes affecting the City Camp Lagoon area.

City Engineer Richard Lardizabal disclosed the initiative on Friday, noting that the proposed infrastructure work targets an approximately 11,033-square-meter lagoon zone. The project represents efforts by local officials to address long-standing drainage issues that have plagued the area during heavy rainfall periods.

The partnership between municipal and national agencies reflects a broader approach to infrastructure solutions in the highland city. However, specific details regarding project scope, implementation phases, and construction schedules remain under discussion between the city government and DPWH representatives.

The announcement underscores Baguio's ongoing efforts to enhance its stormwater management systems amid concerns over climate-related flooding risks. Further updates on project timelines and approved designs are expected as inter-agency coordination progresses.
