Baguio steps up measles vaccination push despite rainy season delays

BAGUIO CITY — The City Health Services Office (CHSO) is pivoting to house-to-house vaccination rounds to accelerate measles immunization efforts across Baguio City, where coverage has stalled at just 20 percent. Heavy rains that have persisted for weeks have disrupted traditional vaccination venues and deterred families from attending health clinics, prompting city health officials to bring immunization services directly to residential areas.

The CHSO has mobilized additional workers from the Department of Health and local health units to conduct the expanded campaign. The house-to-house approach is designed to reach families in areas where rainfall and weather conditions make travel to health facilities difficult, ensuring that more children receive protection against measles during the critical immunization period.
