Bajaj Finance net profit surges 28.7% on robust lending expansion

Bajaj Finance reported a 28.7% year-on-year increase in net profit for the second quarter, reaching ₹6,367 crore and underscoring the company's momentum in India's retail lending space. The growth was underpinned by broad-based expansion across the company's loan portfolio, reflecting sustained consumer demand and improved credit penetration in underserved markets.

Assets under management grew 26% during the quarter, marking the fastest expansion pace since March 2025. The company's gold loan segment demonstrated particularly strong traction, with advances in this category doubling year-on-year. Rural consumer finance operations expanded 63%, indicating successful market deepening in tier-II and tier-III geographies where credit availability remains limited.

The diversified growth across product lines suggests Bajaj Finance is successfully navigating India's competitive retail lending environment through targeted expansion into both high-growth segments and underbanked regions. The company's ability to scale gold loans while simultaneously ramping rural consumer finance demonstrates operational flexibility and market positioning strength. These results reflect ongoing economic activity and credit demand across India's consumer base, despite macroeconomic headwinds affecting some sectors.
