MANILA — Resigned Ateneo de Manila University basketball head coach Tab Baldwin and 11 other respondents will submit their counter-affidavits before the Department of Justice on September 15, according to Justice Undersecretary Ian Norman Dato.

Dato disclosed the development at a press conference, confirming the scheduled submission date as the accused respond to criminal charges lodged by the National Bureau of Investigation.

The case centers on allegations that have drawn scrutiny to basketball operations at the prestigious Manila-based institution. The submission of counter-affidavits represents a critical phase in the preliminary investigation, allowing the respondents to present their side of the dispute before the DOJ determines whether to proceed with formal charges.

Baldwin had stepped down from his position as head coach of the Blue Eagles earlier in the year amid the controversy. The proceedings at the DOJ will be closely watched by the Philippine basketball community and the broader athletic sector.
