Bangladesh observes Eid Miladunnabi marking Prophet Muhammad's birth
Bangladesh will celebrate Eid Miladunnabi on Thursday as the nation observes the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam. The occasion is marked with religious ceremonies, prayers, and public festivities across the country.

Eid Miladunnabi, also known as Mawlid, falls on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal in the Islamic lunar calendar. Bangladeshi Muslims will gather at mosques and prayer grounds to offer special prayers and seek blessings on the day. Religious scholars are expected to deliver sermons highlighting the life, teachings, and contributions of Prophet Muhammad to humanity.
Public and private institutions will remain closed on Thursday to allow citizens to participate in religious observances. Markets and commercial areas across the country are expected to bustle with activity as families prepare special meals and visit relatives to exchange greetings.
In mosques and religious centers, special Quranic recitations and devotional songs will be performed throughout the day. Many organizations and community groups traditionally organize prayer sessions, food distribution, and charitable activities to commemorate the occasion.
The celebration also serves as an opportunity for interfaith dialogue and cultural exchange in many parts of Bangladesh, with citizens of different religions participating in community events and wishing their Muslim friends and neighbors on the occasion.
