Bangladesh to skip BRICS summit in India with no representative

The government has decided against participation in the BRICS summit scheduled to take place in India, with no delegation to be sent in lieu of high-level attendance, Information Minister Humayun Kabir announced on Tuesday.

The decision marks Bangladesh's absence from the major summit of the five-nation bloc, which comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The announcement came as India prepares to host the significant economic and political gathering.

Kabir, speaking on behalf of the government, confirmed that Bangladesh would neither send senior officials nor designate any representative to participate in the summit proceedings. The reasons behind the decision were not immediately elaborated by the spokesman.

Bangladesh's non-participation in the summit reflects the country's diplomatic positioning as it navigates relationships with major global powers.
