COTABATO CITY — The first democratically elected Bangsamoro Parliament has mapped out a focused legislative agenda for its initial 100 days, signaling its intent to move swiftly on critical fiscal matters affecting the autonomous region.
Deputy Majority Floor Leader Naguib Sinarimbo, a lawyer, said the chamber will concentrate its efforts on two major initiatives: crafting a comprehensive revenue code and approving the 2027 regional budget. Both measures are considered foundational to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao's ability to fund government operations and development programs.
The revenue code represents a significant undertaking, establishing the tax and fiscal framework necessary for the region to generate independent income streams. Its passage would enable the BARMM to reduce reliance on national transfers and strengthen its financial autonomy.
The compressed legislative timeline reflects the Parliament's recognition that establishing fiscal infrastructure is essential before addressing broader governance and development priorities. The 100-day target provides measurable accountability while allowing lawmakers flexibility in addressing unexpected legislative needs.
