Banks across India will be closed on Thursday, October 24, 2026, as the nation observes its fourth-Saturday holiday. The closure affects all scheduled commercial banks, cooperative banks, and financial institutions operating under Reserve Bank of India guidelines.

Physical branch operations, including counter services, will remain unavailable on the day. Cheque clearing and fund transfer services conducted through traditional banking channels will also be suspended. Customers seeking to conduct urgent transactions are advised to complete their requirements by end of business on October 23.

However, customers can continue to access banking services through alternative digital channels. Unified Payments Interface (UPI), mobile banking applications, and internet banking platforms will remain operational throughout the holiday. ATM networks will also continue to function, allowing customers to withdraw cash as needed.

The Reserve Bank of India maintains a calendar of mandatory banking holidays each year. These fourth-Saturday closures are observed uniformly across all banking institutions to provide staff rest days and support operational requirements. Customers are encouraged to plan their banking activities accordingly and utilize digital banking options during holiday periods to avoid inconvenience.
