Barisan Nasional mobilises machinery to support Perikatan in seven seats

The Umno leadership has instructed party members and supporters to throw their full weight behind Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidates contesting seven parliamentary and state assembly seats, according to Umno Secretary-General Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

The directive represents a coordinated effort to consolidate support across Barisan Nasional (BN) and PN-aligned candidates in strategic constituencies. Asyraf Wajdi emphasised the importance of unified backing for all PN contenders in the targeted seats, signalling an alignment between the two political blocs on specific electoral battlegrounds.

The arrangement reflects ongoing political coordination between BN—which comprises Umno, MCA, and MIC—and PN, which includes Bersatu, PAS, and other coalition partners. Such seat-sharing arrangements have become increasingly common as Malaysian political coalitions seek to maximise their electoral performance and avoid three-cornered contests that could split opposition or government-friendly votes.

The seven seats have been identified as priorities where joint backing could prove decisive, according to party sources. The mobilisation of BN's organisational machinery behind PN candidates suggests both coalitions view coordinated action as strategically beneficial in their respective political endeavours.
