COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is moving to establish a School Safety Task Force aimed at shielding students, teachers, and school communities from violence.
Deputy Minister Lawyer Abubakar Katambak announced the initiative Wednesday, signaling the regional government's commitment to creating safer learning environments. The multi-sectoral approach is intended to address school violence comprehensively across BARMM's educational institutions.
The task force is expected to bring together various stakeholders from government agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations. By pooling resources and expertise across sectors, officials aim to develop coordinated strategies to prevent incidents of violence and ensure the security of students and staff.
The formation of the task force reflects growing regional concerns about school safety. Education officials have prioritized protecting learners as essential to improving educational outcomes and ensuring that students can focus on their studies without fear.
