DAVAO CITY — Leadership of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is undertaking a major coalition-building effort to strengthen its political standing and administrative capacity.

Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua, who leads the Bangsamoro Federalist party, committed on Wednesday to mobilizing support from all significant political actors in the autonomous region. The move signals an attempt to forge consensus among diverse power brokers ahead of the assumption of full regional authority.

The coalition-building initiative reflects recognition that broad-based political backing will be essential for the BARMM administration to implement its legislative agenda and policy priorities effectively. By bringing together influential stakeholders across the political spectrum, BARMM officials aim to minimize internal divisions that could hinder governance.

The autonomous region, created under the 2019 Bangsamoro Organic Law, represents a significant constitutional development in Muslim Mindanao. The incoming administration's emphasis on coalition-building suggests leadership plans to pursue a collaborative approach to regional development and peace-building efforts.
