BARMM's New Education Chief Pledges Learning Improvements

COTABATO CITY—Naguib Sinarimbo, a member of the Bangsamoro Parliament, has assumed office as head of the Ministry of Basic Education in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), bringing pledges to strengthen learning outcomes across the region.

During his oath-taking ceremony, Sinarimbo underscored the ministry's commitment to improving educational quality and accessibility in BARMM, framing enhanced learning as integral to translating the peace process into tangible benefits for the Bangsamoro people.

The appointment comes as the autonomous region continues efforts to rebuild and strengthen institutions following years of conflict. Education officials have identified learning outcomes as a critical area requiring immediate intervention, with standardized assessments showing persistent gaps between BARMM and national averages.

Sinarimbo's mandate includes addressing infrastructure deficits, teacher training, curriculum development, and access to quality educational resources across the region's diverse communities. The new education chief has signaled plans to collaborate with national government agencies and international development partners to accelerate progress toward measurable improvements in student performance and completion rates.
