Basilan ambush leaves 11 military personnel wounded, 3 in critical condition

A military convoy came under attack in Tipo-Tipo, Basilan on Monday morning, leaving four soldiers from the 45th Infantry Battalion and one member of the Civilian Armed Auxiliary wounded in the ambush. The incident raised the total count of injured personnel to 11, with three of the wounded reported to be in critical condition.
Joint Task Force Orion, the military unit overseeing operations in the area, confirmed details of the attack. The 45th Infantry Battalion was conducting operations in the municipality when the convoy was targeted, resulting in the fresh wave of casualties.
The ambush marks the latest incident of armed violence in the volatile Basilan province, which has long grappled with security challenges stemming from armed group activities. Military and security forces have intensified efforts to maintain stability in the region, though sporadic attacks continue to pose risks to both military personnel and civilians.
