Bastar's former military camp transforms into tribal student hostel

The erstwhile security camp in Bastar has found new purpose as an educational hub for tribal youth from the region. The facility operates as a dual-purpose hostel, providing residential accommodation and learning infrastructure for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The campus is divided into two functional sections serving different educational levels. The first section houses approximately 100 boys pursuing pre-Matriculation studies, while the second accommodates 50 students enrolled in Classes 11 and 12. This segregated arrangement allows for age-appropriate mentoring and academic support tailored to each cohort's developmental needs.

The conversion reflects efforts to improve educational accessibility for Scheduled Tribe communities in Bastar, a district historically marked by educational disparities. By converting an underutilized security infrastructure into a hostel facility, local authorities have addressed the dual challenge of providing safe residential spaces and promoting institutional schooling among tribal populations.

The facility's establishment underscores the region's commitment to strengthening secondary education outcomes for indigenous students. Residential hostels reduce geographical barriers that frequently prevent rural and tribal youth from accessing quality educational opportunities, particularly in remote areas where commuting distances remain prohibitive.
