Balanga City, Bataan – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bataan declared the province under a state of calamity on Thursday following significant damage inflicted by relentless monsoon rains, according to findings from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The decision was made after authorities documented widespread destruction across residential areas, farming communities, and critical infrastructure throughout the province. Multiple barangays, including Townsite and Cabcaben, experienced the most severe impacts from the flooding.

The calamity declaration enables provincial authorities to access emergency funds and mobilize resources for relief operations and rehabilitation efforts. It also streamlines procurement procedures and authorizes the use of local government reserves to respond to the disaster and assist affected residents.

The monsoon season continues to pose risks across the region, with weather forecasters monitoring conditions for potential additional rainfall in coming days.
