CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI), operator of the Batangas Passenger Terminal, suspended all passenger trips to Puerto Galera on Monday in response to deteriorating weather conditions affecting the crossing.

The cancellations were implemented as a precautionary measure following the concurrent effects of the southwest monsoon system and Typhoon Saudel over the region, according to ATI officials. The combination of weather systems created hazardous conditions deemed unsafe for maritime operations.

ATI did not immediately announce when regular service would resume, with operations expected to remain suspended pending improvement in sea and weather conditions. Passengers affected by the cancellations were advised to check with the port operator for updates on service resumption.

The suspension marks the latest disruption to inter-island ferry operations in the region as typhoon season continues. Puerto Galera remains a major tourist destination, with the Batangas-Mindoro route serving as a vital transportation link for both passengers and commerce.
