Budget carrier Batik Air will commence operations on a new direct flight between Miri and Subang from December 1, enhancing connectivity between Sarawak and the Klang Valley region.
The new service is anticipated to deliver significant benefits to both the business and tourism sectors, according to industry observers. The route will facilitate easier travel for business professionals and leisure visitors seeking to strengthen commercial ties between the two regions.
Miri, located on Sarawak's northern coast, serves as a major hub for the state's oil and gas industry as well as a gateway for tourism to natural attractions in the region. The improved air link to Subang, which hosts one of Malaysia's key airports serving the greater Kuala Lumpur area, is expected to streamline access to Malaysia's commercial and administrative center.
The addition of the Miri-Subang route reflects growing demand for air travel connections within Malaysia and Batik Air's expansion strategy to serve regional markets more comprehensively. Improved transportation links between Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia have been identified as crucial for supporting economic development and regional integration.
