Batu Muda and Johan Setia have emerged as the areas most affected by poor air quality in recent readings, according to environmental monitoring data. The two locations in Selangor state have recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) measurements, prompting health authorities to alert residents in those areas to take precautionary measures.
Beyond the two worst-affected areas, an additional 28 monitoring stations across Malaysia have also registered unhealthy API levels, indicating a broader pattern of air quality deterioration affecting multiple regions. The widespread nature of the readings suggests that air pollution concerns extend well beyond isolated pockets, affecting communities in various states.
Meanwhile, 31 areas have recorded moderate API readings, suggesting variable air quality conditions across the country. The distribution of measurements reflects the uneven nature of air pollution, which can be influenced by local weather patterns, industrial activities, and traffic congestion.
Authorities have advised residents in areas experiencing unhealthy air quality to limit outdoor activities, particularly for vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions. The public has also been encouraged to monitor real-time API updates and follow guidance from environmental and health agencies regarding air quality management and personal protection measures.
