Batu Uban legislator avoids comment on domestic violence allegations

The assemblyman for Batu Uban sidestepped questions about allegations of domestic violence involving him, offering minimal response when approached by media personnel on Wednesday. When asked directly whether his name had been mentioned in connection with the matter, the legislator deflected without elaborating on the specifics of the claims.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow subsequently urged the public to refrain from drawing conclusions prematurely. In remarks to reporters, the Chief Minister emphasised the importance of allowing proper investigation and due process before forming judgments about the allegations.

The incident adds to ongoing scrutiny of workplace conduct and personal behaviour among elected representatives in the state. Authorities have not yet provided an official statement regarding the status of any investigation into the matter.

The reluctance to comment publicly has sparked renewed calls for transparency from civil society groups monitoring accountability among state legislators. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister's appeal for caution reflects a cautious approach to an allegation that remains under examination.
