Bay of Bengal low-pressure system poised to intensify into cyclone

The meteorological disturbance currently positioned over the Bay of Bengal in the vicinity of the North Andaman Islands is anticipated to remain in its present location before developing into a depression by today, the Department of Meteorology reported. The system poses potential risks to the region as it undergoes intensification.

Forecasters project the low-pressure area will follow a west-northwestward trajectory, with a tendency toward further westward movement. The intensification process is expected to continue as the system progresses, increasing the likelihood of its evolution into a more severe weather phenomenon.

The Department of Meteorology indicated there is a very high probability of significant development, suggesting the system warrants close monitoring by maritime authorities and coastal communities across South and Southeast Asia. Residents in affected regions are advised to remain alert for official weather warnings and advisories as the situation develops.

The Bay of Bengal remains particularly susceptible to cyclonic system formation during certain seasons, with such weather patterns capable of bringing severe winds, heavy rainfall, and rough sea conditions to surrounding coastal areas.
