Bayambang declares calamity status as storms ravage farms

The Bayambang municipal council has invoked calamity status in response to widespread crop destruction caused by Tropical Storms Luis and Maymay, coupled with the intensified southwest monsoon locally known as habagat. Municipal Resolution No. 371, Series of 2026, formally documented the disaster declaration following assessment of the damage across the agricultural sector.
Prolonged rainfall and widespread flooding triggered by the weather systems resulted in agricultural losses valued at more than 31 million pesos, according to municipal records. The prolonged wet conditions severely impacted farming operations across the municipality, with hundreds of farmers reporting crop failures and damage to agricultural infrastructure.
The calamity declaration enables affected municipalities to access additional resources and implement relief measures for the farming community. The resolution paves the way for assistance programs and financial support for farmers seeking to rehabilitate their operations and recover from the weather-related losses.
