BCCI launches hunt for new chief selector as Agarkar steps down

During the BCCI's 95th Annual General Meeting, member units authorized the board's office-bearers to make decisions regarding the composition and leadership of the selection committees. The meeting, which brought together representatives from affiliated state cricket associations, provided the mandate needed to oversee the transition.
Agarkar's tenure as chairman of selectors has been marked by significant decisions in Indian cricket's selection strategy. His contract is scheduled to conclude on October 4, with the BCCI now tasked with identifying and appointing a replacement to lead the selection process for the national team.
The board's office-bearers have been granted broad authority to address matters pertaining to all selection committees, indicating they may use this opportunity to review the overall structure of the selection machinery beyond just the chief selector's position.
