BCCI Relocates India-Sri Lanka ODI Series Opener to Visakhapatnam

The BCCI announced the venue change for the ODI series opener on Thursday, moving the match away from the national capital to the coastal city of Visakhapatnam. The decision affects the first encounter of the India-Sri Lanka ODI series, originally scheduled to be held in Delhi on December 13.

While the board did not provide detailed reasons for the relocation in its initial announcement, such changes are typically driven by logistical considerations, ground availability, or operational requirements. Visakhapatnam's Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium is an established international cricket venue that regularly hosts bilateral series and tournament matches.

The shift represents the latest in a series of venue adjustments that international cricket boards frequently make to accommodate scheduling demands and ensure optimal conditions for matches. Sri Lanka's cricket team will travel to Visakhapatnam for the series opener, with subsequent ODIs expected to proceed as originally planned.

The relocation is effective immediately, and both teams have been notified of the change. Ticket holders and spectators planning to attend the match are advised to note the new venue for their arrangements.
