BCCI rolls out pay hike for umpires under new evaluation framework

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced a restructured pay scale for umpires operating across its domestic and international competitions, reflecting the board's commitment to enhancing compensation for match officials.
Under the new grading system, umpires will receive differentiated daily payments commensurate with their performance ratings. Grade A officials will earn Rs 60,000 per day, while Grade B umpires will receive Rs 50,000 daily. Those classified under Grade C will be compensated at Rs 40,000 per day, with Grade D officials earning Rs 35,000 per day.
The revised framework introduces a merit-based evaluation mechanism designed to incentivize consistent performance and professional development among umpires. The tiered structure aims to reward experienced and high-performing officials while establishing clear performance benchmarks across the cricketing hierarchy.
The announcement represents a substantial increase from previous compensation levels and underscores the BCCI's recognition of the critical role umpires play in maintaining the integrity and credibility of domestic and international cricket matches.
