Bee swarm injures dozen passengers aboard Vande Bharat train in MP

A sudden bee attack created panic aboard a Vande Bharat Express coach at Khajuraho railway station in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, injuring between 12 and 14 passengers. The swarm descended on the train after construction work at the station inadvertently disturbed a beehive situated on the platform.

The incident occurred when workers carrying out construction or maintenance activities near the station platform accidentally triggered the colony, causing the bees to attack the nearby train coach. Passengers reported being stung multiple times as the swarm spread through the compartment, prompting emergency response from railway staff and local authorities.

The injured passengers received immediate medical attention at the station and nearby healthcare facilities. Most sustained bee sting injuries of varying severity. Railway officials have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining safety protocols at the station to prevent similar occurrences.

The Vande Bharat Express, India's semi-high-speed train service, has garnered widespread adoption since its introduction. The incident highlights unexpected challenges that can arise during routine station operations and the importance of environmental awareness during infrastructure work at railway facilities.
