Mysuru's iconic Dasara festivities are known for their grandeur and visual spectacle, with the illuminated palace and decorated streets drawing visitors from across the country. However, the elaborate lighting displays that define the ten-day celebration depend heavily on behind-the-scenes coordination and technical expertise often overlooked by festival-goers.
The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), which supplies power to the city, deploys approximately 642 personnel to maintain and manage electrical infrastructure during the Dasara period. These workers undertake preventive maintenance, monitor power distribution networks, and respond to any technical issues that could disrupt the festivities.
The workforce is stationed across various zones throughout Mysuru, with teams positioned at critical points including the palace premises, main thoroughfares, and commercial areas where illumination is essential. Their responsibilities include checking electrical connections, ensuring transformer stability, and managing the increased power demand that accompanies the elaborate lighting arrangements.
The logistical challenge intensifies during peak festive hours when thousands of visitors throng the illuminated streets. CESC personnel work in coordinated shifts to guarantee uninterrupted power supply, with emergency response teams on standby to address any faults that may arise.
While celebrations capture public attention, the dedication of these electrical technicians remains instrumental to delivering the seamless festival experience that has made Mysuru Dasara a celebrated annual tradition.
