Belgium has begun construction of the world's first artificial energy island in the North Sea, marking a significant milestone in European renewable energy infrastructure. The artificial island will collect power from multiple wind farms and transmit it directly to the mainland, streamlining the complex process of offshore energy distribution. Construction of the civil engineering components is nearing completion, though the installation of electrical infrastructure will continue through 2030.
