Belgium positioned as key partner in Vietnam's green and digital transition

Belgium can play a meaningful role in assisting Vietnam navigate its transition toward sustainable development and digital innovation, Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Pieter Leenknegt said on Tuesday.

Ambassador Leenknegt emphasized that Vietnam should prioritize partnerships with reliable, high-quality international partners as it pursues its green and digital agendas. He highlighted Belgium and Europe's capacity to provide expertise and support in these critical areas.

The remarks underscore deepening bilateral ties between Hanoi and Brussels at a time when Vietnam is accelerating its shift toward cleaner energy sources and modernizing its digital infrastructure. European nations possess considerable experience and technological capabilities that could complement Vietnam's development priorities.

The partnership comes as Vietnam's senior leadership engages in high-level diplomatic exchanges with European counterparts, including recent official visits to Denmark, the European Union, and Belgium. These engagements signal both nations' commitment to expanding cooperation across economic, environmental, and technological domains.

The timing reflects broader regional trends, as Vietnam seeks to diversify its international partnerships while advancing its climate commitments and digital economy goals.
