Beloved tusker Abhimanyu bows out of Mysuru Dasara festivities

Abhimanyu, one of the most recognizable elephants in Mysuru Dasara's storied history, has been retired from participating in the grand festival. The decision comes as the tusker's age has made continued participation in the demanding carnival increasingly untenable.

While his retirement was widely anticipated given his advanced years, Abhimanyu's name had initially appeared on the roster of elephants selected for this year's Dasara celebrations.
